Start from one concrete hotel base
These routes start at a Wangfujing-area hotel within a 5–15 minute walk of Dengshikou Metro—for example the Jinbao Street base used by the airport guide—with your bags packed and checkout complete. From a different hotel, replace that first leg before using the total.
- Time endpoint
Time endpoint: railway totals end at the signed railway passenger entrance; flight totals end at the airline’s departure counter. Add the carrier’s own required entry, security, check-in and boarding time after that point. These are editorial planning ranges, not punctuality guarantees or universal early-arrival rules.
- Rail journey and fare assumptions
Beijing fares below are calculated from the operators’ station distances and the ordinary fare bands, with airport tickets added separately. The rail-time allowance uses three minutes per city station interval, not a timed journey; add 10–15 minutes per interchange for the walk and connecting wait. Airport-line allowances are shown separately. This deliberately leaves room for bags; use the live planner and station notice on the day.
- Both ends and first wait
Both ends: add 5–15 minutes for the hotel walk, 5–10 for Metro entry/security, 0–10 for the first train, then 10–20 from the destination Metro platform to the railway entrance: 20–55 minutes beyond the rail/transfer block. For an airline counter use 15–25 at the terminal instead: 25–60 minutes beyond the rail/transfer block. A closed lift, inaccessible path, holiday queue or distant counter needs more.
Match the issued station: the railway routes below are examples, not a complete station list. Beijing North · 北京北站, Beijing Fengtai · 北京丰台站 and Qinghe · 清河站 also serve different trains. Check your travel date and train in China Railway 12306, then use the full departure-station name on your issued ticket. Do not substitute one Beijing station for another.
Beijing Railway Station · 北京站
- Route:
Dengshikou 灯市口 → Line 5 south to Chongwenmen 崇文门 → Line 2 one stop toward Beijing Railway Station 北京站.
- Complete transfer budget:
CNY 3 per adult, with the stated hotel walk. Mainline train/flight ticket, food and optional vehicle transfers are extra.
- Time:
40–80 minutes hotel → railway entrance: 9 minutes of rail allowance + 10–15 for one change + 20–55 for both ends and first wait, rounded up.
- Finish the approach:
Follow 北京站 railway-departure signs after Metro. Ask station staff for the current passenger entrance using the train number; the square and Metro station are not the boarding hall.
- Service boundary:
Three station intervals; one interchange. Do not confuse this with Beijing South or West.
Beijing South · 北京南站
- Route:
Dengshikou → Line 5 south to Puhuangyu 蒲黄榆 → Line 14 west toward Zhangguozhuang → Beijing South Railway Station 北京南站.
- Complete transfer budget:
CNY 4 per adult, with the stated hotel walk. Mainline train/flight ticket, food and optional vehicle transfers are extra.
- Time:
55–95 minutes hotel → railway entrance: 24 minutes of rail allowance + 10–15 for the change + 20–55 for both ends and first wait, rounded up.
- Finish the approach:
Use the signed railway-departure connection from the Metro concourse; follow the current entry and security direction for your service.
- Service boundary:
Eight served station intervals. The operator’s ordinary Puhuangyu westbound first train is 05:39; reaching it still needs the preceding Line 5 service.
Beijing West · 北京西站
- Route:
Dengshikou → Line 5 south to Ciqikou 磁器口 → Line 7 west toward Beijing West Railway Station 北京西站.
- Complete transfer budget:
CNY 4 per adult, with the stated hotel walk. Mainline train/flight ticket, food and optional vehicle transfers are extra.
- Time:
65–105 minutes hotel → railway entrance: 33 minutes of rail allowance + 10–15 for the change + 20–55 for both ends and first wait, rounded up.
- Finish the approach:
After Metro, follow railway departures rather than a street exit chosen from memory. Check the current entrance with staff if your ticket or carrier specifies one.
- Service boundary:
Eleven station intervals; one change. Beijing Railway Station is a different destination.
Beijing Chaoyang · 北京朝阳站
- Route:
Dengshikou → Line 5 north one stop to Dongsi 东四 → Line 6 east to Hujialou 呼家楼 → Line 10 north one stop to Tuanjiehu 团结湖 → Line 3 east toward Dongba North → Chaoyang Station 朝阳站.
- Complete transfer budget:
CNY 4 per adult, with the stated hotel walk. Mainline train/flight ticket, food and optional vehicle transfers are extra.
- Time:
75–125 minutes hotel → railway entrance: 24 minutes of rail allowance + 30–45 for three changes + 20–55 for both ends and first wait, rounded up.
- Finish the approach:
Use the signed connection to 北京朝阳站 railway departures. On Line 3, Chaoyang Park 朝阳公园 is an earlier, different stop.
- Service boundary:
Eight station intervals but three luggage transfers. Compare a licensed car quote when those changes do not suit your party.
Capital Airport · PEK T2 or T3
- Route:
Dengshikou → Line 5 north to Beixinqiao 北新桥 → Capital Airport Express → the terminal printed by your airline. The airport loop reaches T3 before T2.
- Complete transfer budget:
CNY 3 city Metro + CNY 25 Airport Express = CNY 28 per adult, with the stated hotel walk. Mainline train/flight ticket, food and optional vehicle transfers are extra.
- Time:
85–140 minutes hotel → airline counter: 9 minutes city-rail allowance + 15–25 for the airport-line change/wait + 35–45 airport-train allowance + 25–60 for hotel access, first wait and terminal approach, rounded up.
- Finish the approach:
Buy the separate airport ticket and check T2/T3 before boarding; at your terminal follow departures and the airline counter, not the arrivals exit.
- Service boundary:
Ordinary Beixinqiao airport-bound departures 05:56–22:26. A first-train plan must also get you to Beixinqiao in time; T1 or a changed terminal needs a separate checked terminal transfer.
Daxing Airport · PKX
- Route:
Dengshikou → Line 5 south to Songjiazhuang 宋家庄 → Line 10 toward Shiliuzhuang 石榴庄 and Caoqiao 草桥 → Daxing Airport Express → airport departures.
- Complete transfer budget:
CNY 5 city Metro + CNY 35 ordinary Airport Express = CNY 40 per adult, with the stated hotel walk. Mainline train/flight ticket, food and optional vehicle transfers are extra.
- Time:
105–155 minutes hotel → airline counter: 36 minutes city-rail allowance + 20–30 for the two changes/waits + 20–25 airport-train allowance + 25–60 for hotel access, first wait and terminal approach, rounded up.
- Finish the approach:
Buy the separate ordinary airport-line ticket at Caoqiao. At the airport follow the airline’s departure/check-in zone; airport-rail arrival is not completion of check-in.
- Service boundary:
Ordinary Caoqiao airport-bound departures 05:30–22:30. Last-train ticketing/checks stop five minutes before departure; the operator recommends ten minutes. The preceding city chain must still work.
Work backward from the actual carrier requirement
Example assumptions: your carrier instruction and chosen entry buffer mean you want to reach Beijing South’s railway entrance at 10:30. Using the upper hotel-transfer allowance of 95 minutes and a separate 30-minute disruption allowance, leave the hotel by 08:25. This 10:30 target is an example you must replace, not a China Railway cutoff.
For a flight, record the airline’s required counter-arrival time, subtract the complete hotel-to-counter allowance and a disruption buffer, then check every train is running early enough. If it is not, obtain a licensed hotel-to-terminal car quote or compare an airport night. Do not assume a taxi will be faster during congestion.

Copy the complete hub before planning the ride
A destination city or the word Beijing is not enough.
- Train: full Chinese station name, train number and departure time
- Flight: PEK or PKX, terminal, airline and flight number
- Use the latest carrier-issued ticket or boarding instruction
- Screenshot it and keep one paper copy with the passport
Match three independent fields
The ticket, map pin and transport booking must agree before the booking becomes usable.
- Paste the complete Chinese hub name into the map
- Check the map result against the official station or airport page
- Use the same full name in the taxi or ride-hail destination
- For Chaoyang Railway Station, confirm the entrance or Line 3 connection currently operating
Carrier deadline first, city transfer second
Use the exact train or airline instruction, then work backward through station entry, security/check-in, transfer variability and hotel checkout.
- Record the carrier's current latest acceptable arrival or check-in rule
- Add the complete city-transfer planning time
- Add a separate queue, traffic or disruption buffer
- Protect the night before an early departure
- Do not put a non-refundable attraction on the departure morning
Any identity conflict stops the ride
A fast ride to the wrong hub is not a recovery.
- Stop if the driver app abbreviates or changes the station
- Stop if the ticket and airline app show different airport or terminal details
- Ask staffed railway, airline or hotel personnel to reconcile the identity
- Do not depart until the full hub is confirmed
- If the remaining time becomes unsafe, contact the carrier instead of guessing
Do not infer the station from the destination
China Railway 12306 lists Beijing's railway hubs separately. Routes and timetables can change, so a city pair is not a station rule. The exact ticket controls every trip.
Treat PEK and PKX as different cities for routing
They are separate airports on different sides of Beijing. Copy the code and terminal from the latest airline instruction; a generic 'Beijing airport' search is not a route.
Keep the departure morning empty
Checkout, luggage, traffic, entry checks and a wrong entrance can consume the apparent spare time. Use the departure day for the transfer unless a genuinely late departure leaves a protected, reversible window.
Check the live transport before departure
Route distances were read on 2 October 2026 from the operator’s network distance tables and applied to Beijing’s fare bands. Recheck PEK airport-bound service, PKX airport-bound service and ticketing limits and the complete city chain. Other source-check dates below remain unchanged.
For a car, show the complete Chinese station name or airport code and terminal to the hotel and driver; get the current vehicle quote, toll treatment, pickup and traffic estimate. No fixed car fare or all-day road travel time is established by the rail totals.
When the plan stops working
- The driver or map shows a different station
Stop before moving. Show the full Chinese station name and ticket to hotel or station staff, then rebuild the ride to the confirmed hub.
- The airport or terminal changed
Use the airline's current official instruction and staffed airport help. Do not reuse the old screenshot until the code and terminal match again.
- Delay consumes the disruption buffer
Switch only to a confirmed faster official taxi or ride-hail route when it still protects the carrier deadline; otherwise contact the carrier immediately.
- The passport name and ticket identity do not match
Use the carrier's official support or staffed counter before security. Do not assume the document will be accepted at the gate.
Save the action checklist
- Copy the complete station name or airport code from the latest ticket
- Save the Chinese identity, service number, time and terminal offline
- Match the ticket, official guide, map and ride destination
- Build backward from the carrier's current deadline with a separate disruption buffer
- Stop and ask staffed help if any identity field conflicts
Questions for this trip
Which Beijing station should I use for Shanghai or Xi'an?
Whichever full station name is printed on the exact ticket. Do not choose a hub from the destination alone; schedules and service patterns can change.
Are PEK and PKX interchangeable?
No. They are different airports with different city-transfer routes. Use the three-letter code and terminal shown by the airline.
How early should I arrive?
Use the current arrival or check-in deadline for your exact train or flight. Use the current instruction from China Railway or the operating airline for the exact service, then add city-transfer and disruption time.
