Pudong international-to-domestic in two hours: keep only the protected best case

For the 14:15 arrival at Pudong T1 and 16:15 flight to Guangzhou, keep the two-hour connection only if the carrier confirms a protected connection and its applicable terminal and baggage route. If you must collect and re-check a bag, or the building/carrier arrangement remains unclear, choose a longer connection before travel.

First solo transfer to Guangzhou without Chinese or English

The original traveller was told the bag would be checked through. That is a starting point for confirmation, not proof that collection in Shanghai is unnecessary. Save the Japanese/Chinese card below and show it with the onward booking immediately after arrival.

What 120 minutes does—and does not—tell you

16:15 minus 14:15 is 120 scheduled minutes. Pudong lists 75 minutes for international-to-domestic transfer with through baggage within T1 or within T2: 120 − 75 = 45 minutes above that benchmark. This is not 45 guaranteed usable minutes or the airline’s own minimum connection time. The airport says its times reflect normal operations and individual airline standards govern. Remote stands add 20 minutes to its reference, and arrival delay, checks and the gate deadline reduce your margin.

The 90-minute through-baggage reference applies specifically to T1/S1 or T2/S2, not an arbitrary T1-to-T2 transfer. This page does not establish the onward building or apply an exact non-through-baggage time. If bags need collection/re-check, ask for a longer carrier-confirmed connection instead of relying on the 75-minute branch.

Before departure: confirm the connection

  • Ask the issuing carrier whether both sectors are protected as one connection, which building/satellite the Guangzhou flight uses, and the applicable minimum connection time. Ask what happens if the inbound delay makes the flight unworkable.
  • At origin check-in, check the printed baggage destination and ask separately whether you must collect it at Pudong for customs or re-check. Obtain the onward boarding pass if available; otherwise ask where it will be issued.
  • Confirm your entry documents for the domestic connection, actual flight numbers and gate-closing time. If protection or baggage handling cannot be confirmed, change to a longer connection before departure.

Save or print this Japanese/Chinese card

Fill in the travel date and both flight numbers on your own copy. Keep it offline or print it, with your booking and baggage receipt. Show personal documents only to relevant airport or airline staff; this website does not collect them.

At Pudong: use staff to follow the right branch

Step-by-step instructions
  1. Follow Transfer / 中转 signs and show the card at the first carrier transfer desk or staffed information point. Show the 16:15 departure so staff can assess urgency.
  2. Complete the entry process required for your international-to-domestic journey. Follow officers’ instructions on fingerprints or other checks; this page does not promise an exemption or a processing time.
  3. Ask staff to identify the customs and baggage route. If collection/re-check is required, follow that arrivals/baggage route; if staff confirm a through-transfer arrangement, follow that arrangement. A Guangzhou bag tag alone does not decide this branch.
  4. Obtain the onward boarding pass or complete re-check as directed, then pass domestic departure security. Check the current gate and deadline and go directly there.

If delayed, lost or no longer able to make the flight

Show the card at the nearest staffed desk rather than choosing an exit by guesswork. General arrivals can be the correct route when baggage collection is required. Ask the carrier service desk to assess the protected connection and rebook if necessary, confirm where the bag is, and provide the new itinerary and any charges in writing. Do not assume a free change, hotel or refund. If the flights are separate tickets, missed-flight protection is not established.

Timing and current through-check/arrival guidance were checked on 7 September 2026. The original booking, baggage tag, entry basis, remote stand, actual delay and airline-specific connection rule remain unknown. The result is a keep/change decision and a staff-assisted route, not an unassisted floor-by-floor walkthrough.
