Choose Xizha for the town evening, not for five towns in one trip. Use the existing two-night Wuzhen branch: arrive and settle into the actual booked hotel, give the next day to the West Scenic Area, then make the Tongxiang return a separate departure. Keep the East Scenic Area out of this default; add it only with a ticket that includes East, its own open period and room to return. The operator ticket page sells West and East–West products separately, so a room or an East ticket alone must not be assumed to admit you to West.
Two concrete hotels for different stays. On the official hotel directory, compare Tong'an Inn · 通安客栈 for a traditional inn-style stay with Zhenshui Resort Hotel · 枕水度假酒店 for a larger resort with dining and leisure facilities. Tong'an includes different buildings and room types; Zhenshui includes different areas and room styles. Select the exact room/building offered for your dates rather than assuming every photograph describes the room you will receive. The directory places both in the scenic-area hotel group, but the selected product controls availability, price, check-in and included admission.
For either hotel, keep the original passport needed for the operator-property check-in at Xizha Visitor Service Centre · 西栅游客服务中心. Before buying rail and room products, match the actual check-in desk, included West ticket or separate ticket, re-entry entitlement and cancellation deadline to the selected booking. The operator's service line is +86 573 8873 1088. A non-refundable room should follow a usable arrival and return plan, not an unconfirmed last bus.
One named West Scenic Area walk. From the visitor-centre entry, follow signs into the town and use this shortened version of the operator's published internal sequence: Caomu Bense Dye Workshop · 草木本色染坊 → Xuchang Sauce Workshop · 叙昌酱园 → Water Market · 水上集市 → Zhaoming Academy · 昭明书院 → Old Post Office · 乌镇邮局. At the dye workshop, look for the cloth-drying courtyard; at the sauce workshop, the sauce jars; at the water market, the canal-side platforms. Use the academy and post-office stretch as the slower part of the walk. These are named physical stops from the operator's 2020 guide, not guaranteed demonstrations, postal-service hours or a timed tour. The travel-day gate notice and operator map/service page control diversions and interior access. If an interior is closed, keep the signed canal walk rather than waiting for an unscheduled activity.
Return to your booked Tong'an or Zhenshui room for the rest break; use its assigned building on the operator map. After dinner at the restaurant actually open for your booking, make a shorter return along the West canal streets for the evening, then finish at the same hotel. A boat, theatre performance, Mu Xin Art Museum visit or open-air film is an optional separate product or scheduled activity. None is required to complete this default; do not reuse an old showtime or boat price as a promise.
Close the departure before the evening walk. For the railway branch, use Tongxiang Station · 桐乡站 → Wuzhen Bus Station · 乌镇汽车站 → Xizha Visitor Service Centre → booked hotel, then arrange that hotel → Xizha visitor centre/pickup → Tongxiang Station for the issued onward train. The existing older transport guide supplies the nodes, not today's bus departures. If the travel-day bus links in either direction cannot be confirmed, reserve the actual station-to-centre road ride and its reverse before paying for the train or hotel. Leave time for hotel checkout, any internal hotel-to-centre transfer, the road leg and station checks. If those legs or passport admission fail, change the dates or cut the Wuzhen stay; return to the already workable Hangzhou or Shanghai branch instead.
