For two separate beds, select the 35–40 m² Premium Room with two Twin beds on the dated offer.

The extra category changes both the space and the bed arrangement; select it explicitly instead of assuming every Standard room has a twin version.

IHG places it about 50 metres from Nanzhonghuan / 南中环 on Line 2, approximately 4 km from Taiyuan South station and 7.8 km from Wusu Airport. Those are property location distances, rather than door-to-door journey times.

The published Standard category offers one King or two Twin beds; select the actual dated room.

Early rail breakfast

Breakfast is a practical reason to choose this base for an early rail journey.

For a first visit centred on Liuxiang, the repeated northward rides make the central Holiday Inn more convenient. The two hotels have different operator arrival/departure times; use the times attached to your selected property and offer.

Named product and supplier

GetYourGuide activity 1286826, “Shanxi: Jinci Museum Tickets”, names Jenny and his travel company as the supplier.

Published identity requirement

Its published instructions require valid passport information when booking and describe entry with the passport or the issued QR code.

Before the visit

Select your visiting date, supply the matching identity details and carry the original passport with the issued booking instructions.

Validity and cancellation

The product is valid for one day and lists a full refund for cancellation up to 24 hours before.

Use the final total and deadline for your selected date. Arrange your Jinci vehicle separately. Add a guide or transport through the activity only when the actual selected offer explicitly supplies that service. An admission purchase alone gives you no agreed driver pickup or return time.

Museum price board

The museum's posted price board lists ordinary adult admission at RMB 80 and a half-price category at RMB 40.

Discount entitlement depends on the applicable identity conditions. The marketplace total is its own product price and can differ from the board. The operator's Jinci–Tianlongshan combination has separate validity and refund conditions; keep it distinct from the single Jinci product above.

Dated opening notice

The operator’s 31 March 2025 opening notice gives 08:30–17:30, ticket sales until 17:00, effective from 1 April.

Older operator pages and 2026 holiday reports show different closing times. For an October visit, choose an issued morning date or slot and arrive around 08:30–09:00; use the current notice supplied with that booking for your departure deadline. This guide makes no promise of extended holiday evening admission. The museum's ticket-service number is 400 608 8608.

If the passport ticket fails

If the marketplace cannot issue the matching passport booking, settle a museum-issued identity admission before paying for a non-refundable road arrangement.

A failed booking changes the programme: retain the central streets and public parks, or move the temple block to a date with a successfully issued ticket. The driver booking should state the hotel door, Jinci visitor approach, waiting arrangement, complete return and total charge.

Current passport uncertainty

The current passport fields and a successful booking for a foreign visitor remain unverified.

Fix the stop after issuance

Include the museum as a fixed stop once the official system has issued a reservation matching your identity.

Bring the original passport

Carry the original passport and follow that reservation's gate and arrival instructions.

Earlier foreign-visitor walk-in reports and old QR instructions cannot establish the current route. The Bronze Museum is a separate venue; confirm its current admission and identity procedure with that venue before treating it as a substitute for the main museum.

If the official booking fails

If the official system fails to produce your reservation, use the public city-day combination in Nights and usable days.

It lets you keep the hotel and enjoy Taiyuan without depending on an unresolved gate procedure. A closed museum is another reason to use that public city-day route.

Luggage arrival

For the easiest luggage arrival, join the official taxi queue and show that full address.

Use the hotel entrance for pickup and drop-off, rather than a vague Liuxiang meeting point. Keep the flight's terminal and the rail ticket's station in the same message.

Paid temple, public-park approach

晋祠博物馆 · 晋源区晋祠镇，晋祠公园内 is the paid temple visit.

Choose it for the relationship between the buildings, sculpture and water; several individual halls belong to that one experience. The surrounding park is the approach to the museum, so a driver arrival at “Jinci Park” still leaves walking and the paid admission procedure.

Outward road and admission allowance

Arrange the vehicle from your central hotel and allow roughly 60–90 minutes for the outward road, visitor approach and queues before your admission time.

Agree the return vehicle

Agree the actual public pickup point with the driver when you arrive, photograph it and settle the return time.

Leave bulky luggage at the hotel; carry the passport, water, a small snack and your booking instructions. A car that merely drops you at the park leaves the homeward journey unresolved.

Correct venue and arrival

The main museum is 山西博物院 · 滨河西路13号, west of the Fen River; the map address identifies the complex, while your issued reservation identifies the visitor entry to use.

Road and reservation allowance

Take a taxi from the central hotel to that entry and keep 20–40 minutes for the city road, plus the reservation's required arrival allowance.

Finish security and identity admission before treating the visit as begun.

Inside time

Allow 2½–3 hours with a rest.

Return to the exit

At the end, return to the visitor exit named in the current directions and call the hotel or restaurant by its full Chinese address for the next ride.

Choose one further period or material that interests you from the current gallery list. Reading a small group of sculpture, ceramics or historical objects carefully is more useful than racing through every floor.

Combine or replace

Combine the museum with the central streets and a meal, rather than another distant ticketed sight.

If your issued slot is in the afternoon, walk the centre and eat first; keep the reservation time protected. If the museum is closed or your identity reservation remains unresolved, use Yingze and Twin Pagodas parks. The separate Bronze branch is a different venue and identity arrangement, so it needs its own decision before replacing the main collection.

Central route

From the central hotel, walk towards Liuxiang / 柳巷 and begin with 钟楼街.

Follow the street towards the Food Street junction, then take 食品街 north towards 府东街. Browse a few shops, stop for one small snack and loop back through Liuxiang to the hotel. Allow 1½–2 hours, longer for a seated dinner or shop browsing.

Street character

This is a living commercial district: rebuilt façades, old businesses, younger cafés and evening crowds share the street.

The city's redevelopment account dates Food Street's historic-style façade work to 2012 and Bell Tower Street's reopening to September 2021. Enjoy the shopfronts and the street pattern without treating every frontage as untouched ancient fabric.

Food stop

Food Street gives you snack choices with visible counters; the seated meal below is better when you want an unhurried order and a reliable place to rest.

Start with one item to share before filling up on several fried or sweet snacks. Around a national holiday, shorten the loop at the first crowded junction and return along a street you recognise. A morning Liuxiang walk has a different rhythm from the later shopping crowds.

Yingze arrival

Use 迎泽公园 · 迎泽大街218号 for the north-side destination, around 15–25 minutes on foot from the central base depending on your actual route.

Cross the main roads at the marked pedestrian crossing. From the north approach, head towards the lake, choose a nearby bridge and shaded path, pause at a bench, and return to the same gate. Allow 60–90 minutes; a 30-minute lake-edge turn is enough after a tiring journey.

Public park

The city tourism account describes a free public park with paths, water, planting and local exercise.

Watch what people are doing that morning: walking, practising movements or sitting together. They are ordinary park users rather than a scheduled show. The lake and greenery provide a different experience from commercial Liuxiang, with less pressure to buy or queue.

Daylight and optional activities

Use daylight for the first unfamiliar park visit.

Boats, rides and any special event are separate decisions at the current counter; the basic walking route needs none of them. Pair Yingze with a central lunch and shopping walk. After Jinci, choose the short lake loop or dinner, rather than adding the entire park to a full road day.

Metro approach

The tourism bureau's metro approach specifies Line 1 双塔站, Exit A, then about seven minutes west on foot to the park.

That describes the public park approach; allow additional walking to reach the temple area. From the central hotel, take Line 2 towards 西桥 to 大南门 and transfer to Line 1 towards 武宿1号2号航站楼 for 双塔. A taxi can use 双塔公园西门 near 永祚西街口 as the agreed public entrance and return point.

Public-park visit

Walk into the park, find a public path with a clear view of the two towers, and compare their proportions from more than one position.

Choose a bench and a short garden loop, then return to your agreed entrance. 永祚寺 / Yongzuo Temple, its collection and any tower stairs have a separate paid-visit boundary. The current passport admission and climbing access were not established by the park approach source; keep the public-ground visit as the default rather than buying an assumed all-inclusive tower visit.

Weather and priority

Save this outing for a clear, comfortable period.

In rain or strong wind, use a shorter central walk and a seated meal. October supplies tower and park views; spring peony reports describe a different season. Drop this eastern ride first on a short stay, keeping Jinci and the central block intact.

Dinner branch

山西会馆（体育路店） · 体育路7号 is a named seated-meal choice south of the central walking area.

Take a taxi to this exact branch, then return to the hotel or Bell Tower Street; the restaurant is a separate city ride. Its platform listing includes 刀削面 / knife-shaved noodles, 过油肉 / guoyourou and local oat-flour dishes.

Small-party order

For two people, begin with one shared guoyourou, one green vegetable and one small shared noodle or oat-flour dish; add food after seeing the portions.

Guoyourou supplies rich, tender meat with a vinegar-led savoury finish. Knife-shaved noodles give you thick, uneven ribbons and a substantial chew. 栲栳栳 / kaolaolao is steamed oat-flour rolls, a different texture worth choosing instead of another large wheat-noodle bowl.

Avoid over-ordering

A four-noodle tasting set plus two full bowls and several mains can turn a tasting meal into too much starch.

Compare the actual menu's bowl or plate size and the full order total. Ask for vinegar, chilli and sauces separately if you want to taste the noodles first. Show 不要辣 for a mild request, and state any meat, egg, alcohol or wheat restriction directly; dish names alone give an incomplete ingredient list.

Breakfast branch

The Commerce Ministry's Qingheyuan entry gives 清和元铜锣湾店 · 柳巷铜锣湾宝地小区A1座21–26号.

Use this branch address rather than the name alone. Choose a morning meal here during the central stay, then continue to Liuxiang or the hotel; retain enough time for any issued museum slot.

Tounao ingredients

头脑 / tounao is a thick lamb breakfast preparation with flour, lotus root, yam, herbs and yellow rice wine or wine lees.

Expect a rich, herbal, warming flavour, with pickled chive condiment rather than an ordinary light noodle soup. Begin with one bowl between two curious tasters and one small order of 烧麦 / shaomai or the available bread, then add to appetite. A traveller who dislikes lamb or wine flavours can choose a plain noodle breakfast elsewhere or the hotel breakfast before the day begins.

Food Street snack

On Food Street, try one small snack such as a noodle-skin roll or a vinegar-seasoned cold starch dish before another heavy meal.

The February 2026 old-business report documents tounao, steamed dumplings and vinegar-scented guoyourou in the city. It explains flavour and restaurant activity in that period; your actual counter determines today's dishes, portions and prices. Spend on the items you want to taste, rather than buying an entire stall assortment.

Ticket and station

Use China Railway 12306 for the actual date, station and passenger identity. 太原 and 太原南 are different station names; use the issued ticket rather than assuming every onward train leaves from South.

Put the station, departure time and Chinese hotel address in the departure plan.

Bags and airport connection

From the central bed, recover luggage before the journey.

For Taiyuan South or Wusu Airport, take Line 2 from 开化寺街 towards 西桥 for one stop to 大南门, transfer to Line 1 towards 武宿1号2号航站楼, and leave at the stop that matches your ticket or flight. For Taiyuan station, the same Line 1 direction serves the west and east squares; choose the entrance named in your rail departure directions.

Departure buffer

Allow a planning cushion of roughly 90–120 minutes from the central hotel to a South-station train departure, or 60–90 minutes to a Taiyuan-station train departure, including the road or metro journey and station procedures.

Give the journey more room on a busy holiday. For a flight, add the chosen city transfer to your airline's required terminal arrival time, with baggage and document procedures included. An early departure with bags is a reason to pre-arrange the car the evening before.

Continue to Pingyao

Pingyao: book the rail station actually served by your train.

High-speed 平遥古城 is separate from the old town and from 平遥 station. An overnight there gives you an evening and morning inside the town; adding it after Jinci requires another transfer and hotel. For an independent day return, first secure both trains and the old-town station transfers for the chosen date. Leave large luggage at the agreed Taiyuan hotel and get back there before treating the return as complete.

Continue to Datong

Datong: treat it as the next northern base with its own monument days.
